Trying to find things to do in the middle of nowhere.

Early Cookies
I have been dying to make Halloween sugar cookies.  I have this thing, were I get really into the idea of holidays before they happen.  Once they are here though, I don't really care any more.  But the weeks preceding the actual holiday I have so much fun.
I love cookie cutters.  Fact.  I want to buy them any time I see some. I have some new Halloween ones I got a week or so ago.  So last night I used them.  I used Alton Brown's sugar cookie recipe.  it wasn't as sweet as I'd hoped, but I didn't really mind.  I also used his Royal Icing.  We died part of it orange and part of it blue and left the rest white.

They all ended up giving them out to random people around my apartment building.  I'm glad I didn't have to eat them all.

Knife Skills
Today was my first real lab day in my culinary arts class!  I was part of Knife Skills B today, which involved julienne carrots and dicing potatoes. I have developed a blister from holding my knife the correct way, shaved some of my nail off, and i have two thin (tiny) cuts from my knife.  I passed!  But it took me the full two hours to get everything close enough.  I was just really stoked about today.  I even like the crappy things like knife skills.  Its so fun(:

Strawberry Shortcake Sushi Rolls
So Kenz was doing her thing and was on Pinterest when she came across this post this morning:  http://www.takeamegabite.com/?p=3539  Since we were going to the store we decided to make them!  Or I made them and Kenz cut strawberries and lavished me with praise.  Which is probably more fun and important than what I did haha.  So!  The semi-in-process pictures.

The girl's looked wayyy better than ours and probably taste better too since I forgot to remember when I put the cake in and it was a bit dry.  But it was so much fun anyway haha.  Next recipe:  homemade tortillas.  It's gonna be fun.

Breakdowns and Tractors
Instead of sitting down and doing Hebrew homework tonight, I decided to be a dutiful church goer and attend FHE.  We ended up breaking down 3 times on the way to civilization.  It was such an adventure. On the bummer side the normally 45 minute drive took us FOREVER.  On the other bummer side with a slight upturn, I still haven't done my Hebrew homework.  Yay for procrastinating on the things that take the longest.  Anyway.  I documented this exciting journey.
The first time we broke down we got 4 cars that stopped and asked us if we needed help.  Notice the group of guys hovering near the car.

The second time we broke down we stopped near a ditch with water.  Everyone else was very helpful and got water from the ditch and poured it on the engine.  I just took pictures and thought about running across the empty freeway.

Kenz looking hot as usual.

Empty freeway.  Frogger win guarantee.

So the third time we broke down we were sorta near where we were going anyway.  So obviously we stopped at a tractor place.  I do live in the middle of nowhere.

She's cool.
This

I'm in a wheel. It happens.
So... I guess I should do my Hebrew homework.  Yeah.

Real Fun Real Cold

So yesterday I had a life.  No really.  I did stuff yesterday.  I woke up early (ahem 8:30 am) and went whitewater rafting with some people in my ward.  It was so fun!  I've never been whitewater rafting and i was so scared I'd fall out.  I mean, I fall walking normally so what would prevent me from falling off a raft?  I am happy to report that I did not fall out though.  I have no pictures from this adventure though),:  What a bummer.  I should have taken the water camera from my home even though this would probably be the only time I used it.  The wind was brutal while we were rafting.  It was blowing so hard we were barely moving at some points.  So needless to say I was cold.

After all that jazz I hung out with the Goblin and Krinberry and S.L. and P.G. P.G. is visiting for his and S.L. one year anniversary.  He also happens to be leaving on a mission sometime this month. I can't remember where too.  Anyway.  We hung out with them last night.  We got pie shakes and tried to find the sand dunes so we could light off fireworks.  We somehow managed to miss them and instead turned down many sketchy we-are-so-gonna-die/get-raped roads.  It was frightening.  But we got out of the car and saw all the stars!  Living in the god forsaken middle of nowhere has a few upsides.  One of them being (when its not snowing/raining) that you can see every star in the sky because there is no light pollution around because there is no civilization.  So that's really cool.
We also lit sparklers while on the scary roads.  No fireworks though.  Too much wind.

Cupcakes
First official business of being back in the middle of nowhere was to get a cupcake from the fabulous cupcake shop here.  They honestly have the best cupcakes ever.  So Kenz and I made the trek to the other side of the world (campus) and partook of the cupcakes.

The chocolate banana cupcake and the normal chocolate cupcake.

P.S.  As you can see, I have been reunited with my bows.  Love.

Belated

This is a belated post.  I had to wait to steal the photos off of my friend's camera.  So!  Here they are.  We took a trip to Hollywood one day.  Just for kicks.  Jtween and D.F. were my companions for the day.  i ended up spending most of my time in Zaras.  I got a cute maxi skirt and a dress that I wore to church today.  That's off topic.  Anyway. Here are some photos:

We stopped at an ice cream stop.  It was Disney.

Winnie the Pooh

Then we drove over to the LACMA.  I LOVE THE LACMA.

D.F. molesting the statues

So!  That was really fun.
